This project involves the planning, design, and construction of a new, 77,000 sf, Class “A” headquarters building for Ascend Federal Credit Union. This building is located on a 16 acre site and is a focal point building in the city of Tullahoma, TN. Ascend Federal Credit Union represents over $1.5 billion in assets serving 135,000 members from 17 locations. Project cost $18,000,00.00.
This state of the art building has a 1600 amp, 480 volt electrical service. This facility will be equipped with a 1250kW generator that will be able to power the entire facility during power outages as well as afford peak load shaving if required in the future. This facility will house the central data center that stores all records and transactions for Ascend. The data center will be backed up by a 60kW UPS. This facility will be the largest building in Tullahoma.
The HVAC design utilizes three large rooftop units with a total capacity of 225 tons. The HVAC systems are variable air volume with a mixture of single duct and fan powered terminal units. Building heat is provided by a hot water heating system powered by two gas fired boilers. The facility’s central computer room is conditioned by two dedicated computer room ac units designed for partial redundancy and with piping and ductwork in place for additional future units. All HVAC systems are controlled and monitored by a central Direct Digital Control building control system.
Plumbing included standard domestic water, sanitary waste and drain, and roof drainage piping systems. One unusual feature of the sanitary piping system is that the upper three floors drain to city sewer by gravity, while the lower floor is located below street level, and is provided with a sewage lift station to pump its effluent. Because of the high water table at the site, a perimeter drainage/sump pump system was included to prevent ground water infiltration into the elevator pits. The domestic water design also includes a central chilling unit and chilled water distribution piping for the facility drinking fountains.
