Viam International

This project was a fast paced design/build construction effort for an 82,000 sq. ft. manufacturing warehouse and a two story, 22,000 sq. ft. corporate headquarters for VIAM America. VIAM America is one of the world’s largest suppliers of floormats for the automobile industry.

The manufacturing warehouse heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) is provided by four, groud mounted, 75 ton Intellipak air conditioning units with economizers to take advantage of free cooling during winter months die to the high internal heat load produced by the manufacturing equipment.

The corporate headquarters HVAC is provided by two rooftop VAV systems totaling 75 tons of refridgeration and utilizing electric heat in the zone VAV boxes. A direct digital control system was installed to control the VAV systems and allow owner input/monitoring over the company LAN.

The electrical service for the facility is rated for 4800A at 480 volts. A 1600A busway is located in the center of the facility to allow manufacturing equipment to be easily connected. This busway provides flexibility in the connection of miscellaneous equipment and also reduced the time needed to relocate any equipment. The high bay lighting for the facility was designed with a modular wiring system to reduce the installation cost and time.
